Go AHEAD: 3 Resources To Explore The Layers of You
On Embodying Curiosity, Healing Emotional Blockages and Reparenting Our Selves.
Giving myself a little clarity time about the path ahead of me, and, in extension, ahead of FOR MY SAKE! means that I explore us - all the parts of myself - in multiple directions.
Call it an a-head, a-mind, a-body, a-soul button.
1. A-MIND: the one where an actor and a neuroscientist find what makes you “YOU”?
When I was a kid, I remember there was a time when I first questioned these things like,
why am I me and not somebody else?
Where was I before I was born?
What will happen when I die?
These questions matured a bit later on to this idea about consciousness, which is one of the oldest mysteries in the book, right?
We have experiences.
We open our eyes, and there's not just information processing happening in our brains, we have an experience. There's the redness of red, the sharpness of pain.
And part of that is the experience of being a self within that, with all the emotions, all the the moods, the feeling of the body, the first-person perspective, the memories, the beliefs, the plans.
And we all want to understand ourselves, know ourselves better.
How we experience the world around us and how we experience being a Self within it?
How do we, even with not being actors or actresses ourselves, embody different roles?
How can senses help us embody the roles we want and that serve us?
How can childlike curiosity help us consciously understand the complicated humans we are? What are the experiences that make us (or break us)?
In this epidemics of mental illness, how can the understanding of our consciousness help us in navigating our mind-and-body?
Little note: I watched this TedTalk with an open heart because one of my mantras is as follows:
If you inherently long for something, become it first.
If you want gardens, become the gardener.
If you want love, embody love.
If you want mental stimulation, change the conversation.
If you want peace, exude calmness.
If you want to fill your world with artists, begin to paint.
If you want to be valued, respect your own time.
If you want to live ecstatically, find ecstasy within your Self.
This is how to draw it in, day by day, inch by inch.
Listen here with your open heart..
2. A-BODY: The one where Amy B. Scher has a lot to say on Releasing Emotional Blockages
"Emotions are energy in motion—when they’re stuck, we feel it in our bodies."
How unprocessed emotions really do screw us up?
How do emotions get stuck in the body?
How do emotions get lost in our mind?
How does this lead to physical and mental chaos?
HOW (like, literally!) to use energy work and our own body to let go of those emotional blockages?
Ditch perfectionism, embrace self-compassion and these practices and let me know what you think about this no-nonsense guide to healing.
3. A-SOUL: The one where you make peace with your Selves that knew less than you do now.
Okay, hear me out.
You don’t need to listen to resources about parenting or children only if you have children of your own, because (breaking news!) each one of us has an inner child and my firm belief is that reparenting Kid You means learning the whole parenting thing first.
How can you leave the control freak at home and show up physically, mentally and emotionally to our younger selves (or your children, of course)?
How to connect with love and not with fear?
How to deal with the messy resistance that comes up?
How to geniunly feel (and make others feel) like they are enough?
How to lead with connection and not with control?
Each episode is like a mini-guide to becoming the best person you needed when you were growing up, the mentor who didn’t make you feel like a project but actually helped you grow.
BONUS: Challenge time.
Hold nothing back.
Holding nothing back,
