THE BIG 7: The 7 truths you need to hear today
A 38-page must-read, 7 ideas and 1 visualisation tool is all you're getting today!
When I wrote BOLD AND BRAVE: Plan your vision, goals and priorities, I spotted an extra gem within the tool: a 38-page book titled “THE PATH TO POWER: DRASTICALLY CHANGE THE DIRECTION OF YOUR LIFE IN 30 DAYS OR LESS”.
Since we are bombarded daily with promises of achieving a lot in as little time as possible, negative expectations started manifesting.
Instead of being disappointed that one of the content creators I admire, Dan Koe, is making one of these annoying promises, I decided to approach it with curiosity.
Here, you can find 7 reasons why you should too:
Define the power you want to play in your life.
Power is about mastering the self. (You don’t need to play the status game to become powerful).
It is about having the guts to chase after what you want in life.
It is about not getting punched directly in the face and knocked down by a random right hook that life threw at you.
To add to that, Rest, Don’t Quit.
Although it is counterintuitive because we have not been taught well to rest, it is in these still moments that we reconnect to our Self and find the right path for each one of us. The right path for you.
Then, with the reins in your hands, you take back your self-sovereignty.
You will not get anywhere without a growth mindset. Now.
Wasting mental space on things that are not directly in your control will keep you plagued by negative emotions.
Or will push you to not believe in (and, in turn, reach) your true potential.
As a recovering overthinker, one of my mantras is:
You cannot control things that are out of your control.
Our goals and plans should be focused on Health, Wealth, and Mindset.
Think big. Think long-term.
Write down. Visualize unconditionally.
Remind yourself of your wants and needs daily.
Then, think small. Break down into small, manageable chunks.
A little note on visualization:
When I was working on my Inner Child relationship, I put a picture of myself as a child right next to my mirror.
The picture served as a wonderful reminder tool, a piece of visualization that interrupted my negative self-talk.
It practically shouted at me
“Hey! You are talking to the 5-year-old in the picture, remember that. Always.”
Up to this day, it is my best reminder for self-compassion.
What is your reminder? Find it.
Having the ability to calm down your amazingly complex mind and shut down overthinking on demand is a superpower in a world filled with poisonous information and misconceptions.
Seriously, I want this on my wall.
The picture-on-the-mirror approach taught me self-compassion.
Correction: brought me back to the self-compassion I was capable of.
Finding your approach to shutting up the chatterbox your mind can become is the way to silence the tech-fueled chaos we live in and listen to your Self.
Acquiring skills can be the college you pick.
Koe touches upon the fact that yes, there is nothing wrong with following the typical path of graduate high school - go to university - get a degree - enter the field - build a career in said field.
But… there is also the (not so) little fact, and a perfectly good life choice option, to visualize your future and invest in courses that help you acquire the skills you need to get to where you want to be.
My argument here is that these two do not need to be mutually exclusive - if you want to get a degree and see what the field has to offer, that is fine. If you happen to not like the field, or working for someone, you can always choose to enter the ‘skill acquisition’ path instead.
A degree does not mean a secure and self-fulfilling job.
A skill-based ‘college’ does not mean a stress-free, easily accessible financial freedom.
It boils down to taking action instead of settling.
The simple, yet not so simple visualization tool.
Preparation: Self-Compassion, Curiosity.
Step 1: What do you really want in life? What would be your ‘dream life’? What do you really NOT want to worry about?
Step 2: Break these down into 10-year goals and yearly goals.
Step 3: Break these down into quarterly and monthly goals.
Step 4: Action Mode: Write down daily, repeatable actions that will make it easy to accomplish these goals.
Step 5: Purpose Mode: Write down why you are going to take these actions.
“Learn Search Engine Optimization. - Purpose: Wealth/Financial Independence”.
It is about going beyond thinking about your life goals, it is about accessing a visualization of the action you need to take, and the benefits of putting yourself in these not-too-comfortable situations of challenges.
Last but not least, it is about understanding the consequences of not taking action.
You don’t need to implement revolutionary ideas to revolutionize your life.
Creatively yours,
Katrin
